Alexander Burns
Director
Alexander Burns’ previous directing credits
include Henri Gabler, Diabolique and The Maids with
Exigent Theatre, Hamlet with the Shakespeare Theatre
Company at Carter Barron, 10-Speed Revolution with
The Young Mirror Rep, Lady in the Dark and Angels
in America, Millennium Approaches at Northwestern
University, Copenhagen at The University of Chicago, Twelfth
Night, The Children’s Hour at Germantown Friends School
and The Comedy of Errors at The Academy Theatre.
Alexander assisted Frank Galati on the world premier of
the Kander and Ebb musical The Visit at the Goodman
Theatre. Alexander was a Directing Fellow at the Shakespeare
Theatre Company in DC and assisted director Michael
Kahn on productions of Richard III and Hamlet,
and Gale Edwards on productions of Titus Andronicus and Edward
II. Other assistant directing credits include
Ethan McSweeny’s production of Cornelia and In
This Corner at the Old Globe, Frank Galati’s production
of The Royal Family at Steppenwolf Theatre, Michael
Bogdanov’s production of The Winter’s Tale at
Chicago Shakespeare Theater and Robert Moss’ productions
of The Merchant of Venice at the PA Shakespeare
Festival and The Real Thing at Syracuse Stage.
Alexander is a graduate of Northwestern University and
is an alum of the LCT Directors Lab and the Jack O’Brien
